Return to Cranford

Just a quick stop here. . . my sweet girl is finally learning how to take naps longer than 20 minutes. . . hopefully life will start to resume a sort of routine soon.

But I had to tell you about this movie. If you enjoyed Cranford (see my gushing post about it here), or any other of those amazing Elizabeth Gaskell adaptations, you will enjoy this sequel to Cranford. Normally I am very skeptical about sequels, but this is actually a good one. I recently read the book Cranford, and I like the movie and its sequel better than the book! It is that good.

Anyway, it's available to watch for free online until February 16. It's about 3 hours long, in two episodes (or you can watch it by chapter), and has most of the same characters from the original. And you know I wouldn't recommend it if it had any bad stuff - well, there might be some very brief Biblical word swearing - but nothing worse. :) Leetle bit of medical type violence like in the first, but not even as much.

Here's the link! http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/cranford2/watch.html

You're welcome. :)

No way! Michelle, I just heard about this YESTERDAY! Crazy that you've already seen it. Hmm.... Should I watch it online, or wait until the library gets it in (I requested they purchase a copy)?

I just taped both Cranford and Return to Cranford when they were on Masterpiece. Haven't watched them yet, but I'm definitely looking forward to it. I loved Wives & Daughters so much I had to buy it a couple of years ago.

Oooooh! Thanks for this info, now I know what movie I'll be watching when Ryan goes camping (in the snow) with the Boy Scouts next weekend!

I loved watching Return to Cranford too. Now I am loving Emma: also on master piece classics this month.

Oh, I just started watching it yesterday. I ordered it from amazon and it was here when we returned from our trip. It sure helps motivate me to exercise because I'm watching "Return to Cranford" as I do the elliptical trainer. I loved reading the interview with the writer and director. Thanks for sharing.

I got to watch this with a friend last week. She tivo-ed it for me. It was so fun! I was shocked that they kept so many of the same characters. And of course I balled like a baby when a few certain things happened. Over all I was very impressed with it.

I'm confused. This is the first in the series? So I don't need to watch anything else first?
